Letters to Poets

In the Letters to Young Poets anthology and reading series, nationally recognized emerging and established poets will intimately discuss the role of artist in contemporary society. In three letter exchanges each (and in the readings that follow) fourteen poet pairs (7 from Ca, 7 from NY) sensitively explore such issues as class, poverty, race, gender and sexuality alongside those of success, careerism, passion and integrity. Our project is meant to rethink what it means to be a poet in today’s world, challenge readers with new perspectives on age-old social questions and work to bridge a number of diverse communities in these vulnerable and compelling correspondences.
