Standard Incubator Promotional Language:

Sample Invoices & Contracts
The following invoices and contracts, collected from Incubator Members, can be downloaded and altered to fit your needs. These bare-bones contracts will be accepted as back-up documentation for Requests for Payment, however Intersection cannot be held responsible for any legal issues resulting from their use.

Indemnification Language:
(To address any possible gaps in your insurance coverage, you might include the following language in your contracts)
"The Artist understands that [PROJECT NAME] does not provide insurance coverage for person and property beyond [LIST COVERAGE SECURED]. The Artist is responsible for his or her own safety, health care needs, and protection of property. The Artist agrees to release from liability, agrees to indemnify, and hold harmless [PROJECT NAME], its fiscal sponsor, and any agent, officer, volunteer, or employee acting within the scope of their duties, for any injury to person or damage to property."
Fundraising Language
Please use the following language in correspondence with donors to ensure that you're explaing our relationship and processes correctly.
Instructions to include in fundraising letters:
"We are fiscally sponsored by Intersection for the Arts, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which allows us to offer you tax deductions for your contributions. Please make checks payable to Intersection for the Arts, and write [NAME OF YOUR PROJECT] in the memo line. This ensures that you’ll receive an acknowledgement letter for tax purposes, and your donation will be available for our project."
Explanation of online donation process:
To make a secure online donation using your credit card, please visit the website of our fiscal sponsor, Intersection for the Arts, at www.theintersection.org. Click on 'make a donation', then scroll down and hit the 'donate now' button. Fill in the donation form, and select the appropriate project from the drop-down menu under "Where would you like to direct your donation?"

California Lawyers for the Arts is a nonprofit service organization founded in 1974 which provides lawyer referrals, dispute resolution services, educational programs and publications to artists of all disciplines and arts organizations. CLA has offices in San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento and Santa Monica.
Foundation Center

The Foundation Center's mission is to strengthen the nonprofit sector by advancing knowledge about U.S. philanthropy. To achieve our mission, they communicate information on U.S. philanthropy, conduct research on trends in the field, provide education on the grantseeking process, and ensure public access to information through the web, print and electronic publications, and library/learning centers. Founded in 1956, the Foundation Center is the nation's leading authority on philanthropy.
Nancy E. Quinn Associates
Offering our members foundation deadline updates and free orientation meetings on specific grant applications.
Nancy E. Quinn Associates has been providing institutional fundraising services to small and mid-sized arts organizations in the Bay Area since 1988. Their expanded offerings include Public Relations and Getting Your Act Together, a series of incubator services aimed at taking arts organizations to the next level. They also offer grantwriting, prospect research, budgeting and financial reporting, grant administration, organizational and management consulting, individual giving campaigns, strategic planning, and more.
Small Business Administration

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is an independent federal agency established by Congress to assist, counsel, support and protect the interest of small business concerns and to assist them in their start-up and growth. The San Francisco District Office (SFDO) of the SBA, located in downtown San Francisco, serves fourteen counties spanning from Santa Cruz to the Oregon border. 1997 marked the opening of the Business Information Center and Entreprenuer Center opened directly across from the district office. In addition to the SBA's financial guarantee programs, these centers provide businesses with the tools for enhancing and growing their businesses.
Theatre Bay Area

Theatre Bay Area's mission is to unite, strengthen and promote theatre in the region. It does this by providing communication networks and opportunities and resources for theatre companies, theatre workers, and theatre lovers. NYFA’s site offers access to financial and educational information, including links to an array of fundraising resources for artists of every discipline.
Arts Opportunities Monthly
This site features a list of funding opportunities in visual arts, crafts, printing, photography, film & video, and multimedia arts. Listings include grants, commissions, contests, fellowships, residencies, scholarships, and teaching assistanceships.
Arts Deadline List
This site lists a wide range of opportunities, with access to their even more comprehensive newsletter. Arts Deadline List provides several hundred announcements each month to artists of every discipline, including grants, competitions, fellowships, residencies, auditions, calls for papers, scholarships, internships and arts jobs.
Internal Revenue Service
Believe it or not, the IRS site is quite helpful and relatively easy to navigate. It provides a great deal of information about the tax-deductibility of gifts to nonprofits.

ArtsMarketing.Org
This is a project of the Arts & Business Council, providing advice on marketing issues for arts organizations. There is a comprehensive curriculum of practical lessons and a trove of case studies, which can be accessed through the toolbar at the top of the page.

Arts Forum SF
This is an inclusive forum for developing sustainable, forward-thinking arts programming, partnerships and policies in San Francisco. Their website includes updates on city initiatives and info on upcoming meetings.
Alliance for Justice
Their Nonprofit Advocacy Project is dedicated to strengthening the voice of the nonprofit sector in public policy debates. Their website offers downloadable publications on the advocacy rights of nonprofits, as well as info on upcoming regional workshops.
Americans for the Arts
This is a leading national organization which advocates for the value of the arts, protects the interests of the arts sector, and creates opportunities for arts involvement among the greater public. Their website features downloadable reports, toolkits, and lists of service organizations, as well as info on upcoming regional conferences and trainings.
California Arts Advocates
This organization monitors statewide legislation and works to ensure that the interests of the arts are reflected in California's laws, public policies and budgets. They keep a list of pending legislation on their website so you can keep up-to-date on the progress of relevant bills.
California Association of Nonprofits
This organization works to increase the influence and effectiveness of nonprofit sector statewide. Their website features articles on public policy, case studies on best practices, and a bookstore of publications.
Independent Sector
This coalition of nonprofits, foundations and corporations provides information on national trends, legislation and best practices. Their website includes facts and figures related to the nonprofit sector, as well as downloadable guidelines on nonprofit governance.
National Council of Nonprofits
This website provides a clearinghouse for action alerts among nonprofit advocacy organizations, as well as opportunities to write directly to decision-makers on matters relevant to the nonprofit sector.
Nonprofit Genie
This site provides a range of articles and answers to frequently asked questions about nonprofit management and fundraising, including a set of papers on fiscal sponsorship.
CompassPoint
