This series is intended for arts organizations and fiscally sponsored projects based in San Francisco. It is not intended for individual artists.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
In this workshop, we’ll explore budgeting as a strategic tool for financial planning and sustainability. We’ll move beyond the basics of planning only to meet expenses and into how to set sustainability and growth goals. We will cover:
- Financial life stages of an organization
- Budgeting and strategic planning
- Various budget planning tools and methods
- Using your budget as a real-time map and compass
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
This workshop is facilitated by Yesenia Sanchez. Yesenia has 20 years of experience working with artists and arts organizations in many capacities. She has been an interim director, finance manager, administrative and program director, and executive coach and consultant. She is a finance trainer and coach for the Center for Cultural Innovation and is a featured author in the Business of Art© book, authoring the chapter on financial literacy for artists. Previously, she ran one of the largest artist incubation programs in the country at Intersection for the Arts in San Francisco. She was a founding member of C2Arts – Consultants and Coaches for the Arts, a community of practice. She received her coaching training in 2009 through the Coaching & Philanthropy Project’ Coach Training Pilot Program, where she and 40 other national non-profit leaders were awarded the opportunity to receive coaching training and to be a part of a year long cohort exploring the value of the coaching model in non-profit environments and in under-served communities. Yesenia specializes in business and finance coaching for individual artists, in addition to financial management, fundraising and development, facilitation, executive coaching and team building for arts organizations.

A limited number of free 1-hour coaching slots with Yesenia are available for San Francisco-based arts organizations and fiscally sponsored projects that attend this workshop (underwritten by San Francisco Grants for the Arts). We’ll send out a link after the workshop to schedule coaching sessions.
