
Intro to Grant Writing for the Deaf Community
This virtual workshop is an introduction to grant writing for the Deaf community presented in American Sign Language (ASL).
Learn the basics of grant writing, how to create a basic project budget, how to focus your narrative and how to approach hearing panelists and organizations to request funding for Deaf projects. This is a workshop to help you transition to taking more advanced grant workshops from the grant specialists at Intersection for the Arts.
This will be led by two Bay Area Deaf leaders who are partnered with Intersection for the Arts:
Bay Area native, Antoine Hunter also known Purple Fire Crow is an award-winning Internationally-known African-American, Indigenous, Deaf, Disabled, choreographer, dancer, actor, instructor, speaker, producer and Deaf advocate. He creates opportunities for Disable, Deaf and hearing artists and produces Deaf-friendly events, and founded the Urban Jazz Dance Company and Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival.
Ms Zahna Simon, a San Francisco native and Deaf from birth, is 2018 Changemaker of the year for SF Live Oak School where she is a former alumni. She is a professional dancer, chemist, avid health nutritionist, researcher, Deaf advocate, Deaf interpreter and assistant director for Urban Jazz Dance Company and Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival.
