Learn theories and best practices surrounding the stages of audience engagement and participation in this 2-hour interactive webinar tailored to artists, collectives, arts administrations, and cultural workers. Take a deep dive into Wolf Brown’s “Arc of Engagement” model centered on their report, “Making Sense of Audience Engagement,” by Alan S. Brown and Rebecca Ratzkin. During this time, we will explore how unique experiences can be crafted to attract and retain audience members by managing their entire experience from the decision to interact with an artistic form lasting well into the future.
By the end of this course, you will:
- Discover all 5 stages of the Arc of Engagement model;
- Pinpoint 6 different types of audience members, and;
- Reflect on 4 dimensions of engagement.
This workshop is facilitated by Intersection for the Arts’ new Virtual Programming Specialist, Marie Szalkiewicz, a visual artist and arts administrator passionate about working with both upcoming and established individuals and organizations to create a thriving, accessible, and equitable arts community. Marie received Bachelor Degrees in both Art History and Communication Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and her Masters Degree in Arts Administration from Columbia University. Marie has previously worked in media relations with the renowned arts-focused public relations agency FITZ & CO, which is known for their strong relationship with Art Basel and other global arts institutions.
