WRITERS IN SALESFORCE PARK: Spoken Word Poetry

Spoken Word Poetry Writing Workshop & Performance hosted by Bay Area Creative

Participants will have the opportunity to write spoken word poems with two nationally ranked spoken word poets, perform in an Open Mic, and listen to live performances of the teaching artists’ original work. Spoken word poetry is an unbridled version of free verse poetry where all rules are off the table, where your natural voice is primary, and where passionate vocal expression speaks truth to power. The writing workshop includes practice with poetic devices, performance techniques, and discussion on relevant and meaningful topics.

Bay Area Creative provides opportunities for creative expression that empower individuals to develop empathic communication skills and foster positive change in themselves and their communities. We work to create a world where cultural sensitivity, social justice, and emotional balance promote well-rounded healthy people who can lead the way to a society that is thriving with diversity, supported by community, and fulfilled in the creative acts of individuals.

Writers in Salesforce Park is a series of events that invite people to interact with the literary arts and local writers through readings and workshops presented by Intersection for the Arts artist members.

Don’t miss all six events at the Main Plaza of Salesforce Park every Tuesday, September 17 – October 22, 5:30-6:30pm.

*Elevators closest to the Main Plaza of the rooftop park are located between Minna and Natoma Streets, at both Fremont Street and First Street.*
